Shankar Venkataraman, Ph.D.

Vice President
General Manager, Dielectric Deposition Products, Semiconductor Products Group, Applied Materials, Inc.

Bio: Dr. Shankar Venkataraman is Vice President and General Manager for Dielectric Deposition Products. He is responsible for developing and commercializing innovative solutions for Dielectric Deposition Products and growing the company’s total available market. He previously was responsible for developing the Selective Removal Products portfolio in the company.


Previously, Dr. Venkataraman was General Manager of the Gap Fill Dielectric Division, where he led the organization in achieving market leadership and identifying new markets. He was responsible for the development and commercialization of various innovative dielectric films and products such as Flowable CVD, HARP, SACVD and HDP. He started at Applied Materials as a New College Graduate.


Dr. Venkataraman received a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN and a bachelor of technology degree in metallurgical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology. He holds more than 60 U.S. patents and has published and presented more than 20 papers in refereed journals and at international conferences.
